Hi, I am Katie.
I practice Somatic Experiencing (SE)®, a body-oriented therapy designed to help support your nervous system’s natural movement towards wholeness by working with you to develop greater capacity to be with and renegotiate physical symptoms and sensations related to stress and trauma.
My hope is to help you cultivate a deeper connection with your body, enabling you to feel more present and empowered in your own skin while alleviating the burdens of physical and emotional suffering.
Background and Training:
With over 20 years of clinical experience as a family nurse practitioner, I bring a diverse background to my practice including caring for individuals coping with complex trauma, systemic oppression and marginalization, substance use disorder, and complex grief. Since 2011, I have specialized in palliative medicine and am especially skilled at working with individuals struggling with depression/anxiety, fear, and grief that can accompany the uncertainty of living with a serious illness.
In 2023, I became certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and now integrate this approach into both the hospital setting as well as my private practice.
I also hold a Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research from the California Institute of Integral Studies and have participated in training through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. I offer support in integrating psychedelic experiences, particularly for those living with serious illness and nearing the end of life.
